雖然這是一個收費的商業伺服器，但也同時提供許多重要的免費資訊檢索服務。線上檢索時，使用者可以進行互動資訊檢索。離線檢索時，你必須先在Miropatent註冊，交納一定費用，獲得一個註冊號，就可以定期獲得你要求的檢索資訊了。利用Micropatent進行線上檢索時，使用者也首先要進行註冊，當然註冊是免費的。註冊後Micropatent會通過E-mail發來一個註冊確認號，新使用者第一次登入時Micropatent會提示輸入這一註冊確認號。
