Kennedy Center:美國肯尼迪歌劇院是美國知名的歌劇院之一，位於首都華盛頓特區波托馬科河畔，與林肯紀念堂遙相對望；在短短的三十多年曆史中，肯尼迪表演藝術中心為美國和世界各地最優秀、最激動人心的表演藝術作品提供了向公眾展示的舞臺。

肯尼迪中心（The Kennedy Center），全稱肯尼迪表演藝術中心（The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts），由著名建築師愛德華·斯通 (Edward Durell Stone) 擔任總設計。該建築由3700噸白色大理石建成，其雄偉的大廳高達60英尺。它開放於1972年，是專門進行各類藝術表演的場所，其歌劇院和音樂廳的聲學效果十分出色。該藝術中心包括了一家歌劇院、兩個舞臺表演廳、一間實驗劇院、一個音樂廳、一個電影院及表演藝術圖書館。

1971年9月8日，肯尼迪中心正式向公眾開放。它擁有三個大劇場:艾森豪威爾劇院 (the Eisenhower Theater，以上演話劇為主)、歌劇院 (the Opera House，以上演歌劇、芭蕾舞和音樂劇為主)、音樂廳 (the Concert Hall，以舉辦音樂會為主)，還有展覽廳和餐廳。在盛大慶典上，演奏了作曲大師伯恩斯坦 (Leonard Bernstein) 為紀念已故總統肯尼迪而創作的安魂曲 (Requiem)。《紐約時報》頭版新聞把這座佔地17英畝、耗資7千萬美元的巨集偉建築群描繪成一座波托馬克河畔“音樂、舞蹈和戲劇的大理石神殿”。
