DuBlinCore:都柏林元資料技術平臺是數字圖書館中使用的一組簡單的包括15個“核心元素”的元資料元素集合，主要用於描述數字物件、館藏管理和元資料交換。 適用於電子文獻目錄，也適用於各類電子化的公務文件目錄，產品、商品、藏品目錄。

都柏林核心元資料倡議(DCMI)是一個開放性的組織，支援在元資料設計和跨越廣泛商業模式的最佳實踐方面進行創新。都柏林核心元資料倡議提供核心元資料詞彙來支援發現和管理資源的可互操作的解決方案，提供開放式訪問、創新設計和元資料有關的教育、培訓以及文件資源。

Dublin Core是國際組織Dublin Core Metadata Initiative擬定的用於標識電子資源的一種簡要目錄模式。它一出現就被北美、歐洲、亞洲和澳洲20多個國家認同，不僅圖書館、博物館，不少政府機構、商業組織正在或準備採用。

Dublin Core解決了電子資源的標準問題，但技術實現手段可能有多種。但在圖書館領域中使用的最多、效果最好的是XML和RDF這兩種技術手段。
