Founded in 1967, Minnesota Public Radio / American Public Media began as a single classical music radio station at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn. Since then, Minnesota Public Radio has grown into a 43-station network serving virtually all of Minnesota and parts of surrounding states with three radio services: Classical MPR, MPR News and The Current. American Public Media has grown into one of the largest producers of public radio programming in the world, with a portfolio listened to by over 17 million people each week that includes the BBC World Service, A Prairie Home Companion®, Marketplace®, Performance Today®, The Splendid Table®, On Being™, and American RadioWorks®. In addition, MPR | APM today is the parent company of Southern California Public Radio in Los Angeles, Classical South Florida in Miami, the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul and the Greenspring Company in Minneapolis.
