Mendeley:開放式學術文獻交流平臺是一個免費的學術文獻交流平臺，所有人都可以在Mendeley上搜索到世界各地的學術文獻，而這些學術文獻都是由使用者自己上傳進Mendeley “圖書館(Library)”進行編輯管理。

使用者還能在Mendeley建立與自己領域相關的“學術小組”，以便方便同一學術領域的人才進行線上交流，分享學術成果。Mendeley能個性化的向用戶推薦他們所關注領域的學術內容動態。

Mendeley基本能滿足學術領域的各種線上交流，這也正是老牌科技出版巨頭Elsevier對其“垂涎三尺”的原因，面對著網際網路的洶湧大潮，任何行業都不可避免的要被捲入其中，Elsevier面對網際網路浪潮對行業衝擊，用的方式是直接重金收購。Elsevier收購Mendeley雖然將會花費重金，但是也可以看作是物超所值的，Mendeley目前出來網站之外，還有PC端和移動端，並且開放了API，目前有24 個教育科研機構，總計210萬專業使用者在使用Mendeley進行線上學術。

據悉老牌科技出版巨頭Elsevier將收購Mendeley，Elsevier收購Mendeley之後，將能夠把自己的線上渠道打通，也能夠整合線上內容資源。Elsevier對外承諾，將會保持Mendeley開放的特性。
